The cool city-defense humanoid robot stands thirty meters tall, its weight planted on a bent right leg with the left foot braced forward, one heel grinding into the gravel yard; its chest plates are open and the built-in rocket launcher has swung up out of the torso, a hot white muzzle flash still blooming at the port. Its paint is a clean silver and blue with red shoulder blocks, riveted seam lines and a boxy 1960s head with two round eye lenses and a crest fin. Across the yard the mysterious robot rears forty meters high -- ten meters taller, so the defender's head barely reaches its chest -- built on an unsettling asymmetric mass: one huge slab shoulder, one thin spindly arm, a narrow skull-like head with a single recessed horizontal visor slit glowing a dull sickly amber, exposed cables looping where armor should be, dull olive and rusted iron with a dark rust-red spine. Three rockets have crossed the gap in white smoke trails that curl away from the launcher and bend in the same dawn wind that pushes the chimney smoke. One rocket has already struck: a fireball bursts on the mysterious robot's slab shoulder, panels buckling outward, sparks and shrapnel fanning into the air, black smoke boiling up around its head. The defender's right arm is thrown back as counterweight, fingers of its left hand splayed and gripping the air for balance; both machines' heads are turned toward the impact point -- the defender's lenses locked on the burning shoulder, the mystery robot's visor slit angled down at its own wound. On the ground, tiny figures of workers scatter along the railway siding, nothing more than dark silhouettes, which fixes the true scale. Early morning: a low sun behind the smokestacks rims both machines with warm gold on their left edges and throws long shadows across the gravel toward the camera; mist lies in the yard and pools between the rails, and the lower parts of both robots fade into it. Palette: cool blue-grey dawn haze and silver-blue robot, olive and rust on the enemy, with one hot saturated orange reserved for the explosion, the muzzle flash and the rocket exhaust, and a pale green band of sky low on the horizon. Dust and smoke drift between the camera and the machines, softening the miniature-scale texture of the factory wall, the gravel and the painted backdrop. Tense, spectacular.
