Poison or Medicine?

Oct 4, 2026 – Oct 18, 2026
About This ContestEntries175

This poster contest centers on Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries as she examines a suspicious substance within the quiet apothecary of the rear palace.

Participants are encouraged to highlight the delicate boundary between poison and medicine through candlelight, moonlight, herbal tools, porcelain vessels, and Maomao’s calm yet piercing expression.

Under the theme “Poison or Medicine?”, create a polished poster that blends palace atmosphere, pharmaceutical elegance, and a subtle sense of mystery and deduction.

1girl, solo, witch, oversized black witch hat, floppy brim, long hair, ash-lavender hair, amber eyes, sparkling eyes, small smile, excited, dark purple dress, corset bodice, short capelet, black and white striped thighhighs, horizontal stripes, kneeling, leaning forward, medium close-up, eye level, ancient stone chest, rune carving, teal glow, lighting from below, gnarled staff, glowing green crystal, propped against wall, dim dungeon, stone brick wall, floating dust motes, deep shadows, painterly shading, moody fantasy atmosphere. A medium close-up at eye level captures the young witch kneeling low on the cold dungeon flagstones, her torso angled forward as both hands rest against the mossy, chiseled rim of an ancient stone chest. Archaic runes deeply etched across the stone pulse with a vibrant, eerie teal glow that shoots upward from within the open chest, acting as the primary key light that illuminates the underside of her chin, cheeks, and the wide, creased under-brim of her floppy black hat. Her amber eyes are wide and sparkling with intense curiosity, reflecting teal pinpricks of magic above a small, excited parted-lip smile. Thick locks of ash-lavender hair spill forward over her shoulders, tumbling past the edges of a dark purple capelet fastened over her fitted corset bodice. In the dim midground behind her, her gnarled wooden staff rests propped diagonally against the damp, crumbling masonry wall, its crown mounted with a glowing green crystal that casts a quiet secondary emerald sheen along the stone joints. Suspended dust motes drift slowly through the upward-cast beam of cyan light, surrounded by deep, cavernous shadows that swallow the edges of the chamber in painterly, velvety darkness; enchanted wonder.

character: suzumiya_haruhi 1girl, brown hair, medium hair, yellow hairband, brown eyes, sailor uniform, sleeves rolled up, apron, holding ladle, tasting food, tasting stew, spoon to mouth, blowing on food, one eye closed, steam, campfire, giant iron pot, bear meat stew, vegetables, snow, snowy clearing, night, moonlight, starry sky, low angle, close-up, warm lighting, painterly anime illustration. A close-up low-angle shot of a schoolgirl taste-testing her bear stew beside a giant iron pot over a campfire in a snowy clearing at night. She scoops a ladleful of rich amber stew with tender chunks of bear meat, carrots and mushrooms, blows on it with one eye closed, steam curling past her cheek, about to take the first triumphant sip. Her medium brown hair is slightly windblown beneath the yellow hairband, sleeves rolled up over her blue sailor uniform, an apron loosely tied, cheeks pink from fire heat and cold air, expression a mix of anticipation and pride. The pot bubbles beside her, thick steam glowing orange in the firelight, sparks drifting; behind her the dark mass of the defeated bear rests on the moonlit snow under a starry sky. Warm golden campfire light illuminates her face from below, cool blue moonlight rimming the background, snowflakes drifting lazily. Painterly anime illustration, delicious warm appetizing mood with crisp winter contrast.
