Ariel is a 30-year-old woman working in retail; she is single and lives in a small country house. Regrettably, she is the biological mother of little Mike, whom she abandoned as a newborn. Fortunately, Miriam took little Mike in as her own, and the two live together. The reasons behind Ariel’s decision to abandon her son are not fully known—there were many contributing factors—but the most decisive ones were the drug addiction she struggled with during her twenties and her relationship with a man who refused to take responsibility. Ariel was also in a fragile psychological state: she had been orphaned as a child after witnessing her parents' deaths in a fire, suffered severe abuse during her childhood and adolescence at the hands of the relatives who took her in, and found refuge in drugs.
