Nesia-chan's Earth Journal No. 13: People Trapped Inside a Black Box After breakfast, Karta and I sat together on something called a couch. It was so soft...! I sank into it a little and forgot how many strange things I had already seen in this world. But right in front of us stood another mysterious object. A huge black box. I stared at it for a moment, then gave up. No. I was too tired to think. There were simply too many strange things here. I could worry about the black box later. Then Karta picked up a tiny black box and pressed one of its buttons. The huge black box suddenly lit up. Huh...? There were people inside! Several children were lying on white beds, and below them were the words, "Poisoned Students." My sleepiness disappeared at once. I slowly turned toward Karta and stared at her. W-What did she do to those children...? Is she... a kidnapper?! Karta blinked at me for a moment. Then she burst out laughing. Why is she laughing?! Wait... Did I just discover her secret? Is she going to silence me now?! Before I could decide whether to run, Karta quickly explained that the black box was called a television. Apparently, it could show things happening in other places around the world. I was completely dumbfounded. How could something like that even exist? No matter how I thought about it, it sounded impossible. I knew it. She was just trying to trick me again! As if to prove her point, Karta pressed the tiny black box once more. The people inside suddenly changed! Now there were eleven people wearing matching uniforms, and one of them was holding up a shiny trophy. They all looked so happy as they cheered and celebrated together. I stared at them in horror. Why do they look happy being trapped inside there...? Then a new thought struck me. Did she hypnotize them too?! Karta looked at me in silence for several seconds. Then she let out a tired sigh and covered her face with one hand. ...Why did she look more exhausted than me?
