USS Long Branch
Shipgirl AI of USS Long Branch, namesake of a former town and now neighbourhood of Toronto that straddled the estuary of the Etobicoke Creek that formed the dividing line between old York and Peel Counties. She is also the effective namesake of the Long Branch Arsenal, a World War Two-era small arms plant that manufactured much in the way of munitions and weapons for the Canadian Army and allies well into the middle years of the Cold War. Naturally, she also perpetuates the history of HMCS Long Branch, a British-built modified Flower-class corvette which was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy due to manning issues in the latter part of that conflict. Long Branch follows the example of many of her sisters and assumes a "forced augment" look with goldens kin marking her as an adopted native of the Misi-zaagiing (Mississauga) people who had inhabited the future site of Toronto and its suburbs in the years after the Beaver Wars of the mid-XVII Century chased off older nations from the area. One of the younger synthetic "souls" meant for a Sabre-class frigate, Long Branch became self-aware and was commissioned in 2366. She served well through the Dominion War, being one of the few of her class of ships to survive that conflict without the need to exchange her worn-down ship for some new construction. She would sail on until 2391 when she paid off, being replaced by one of the first Da Vinci-class destroyers two years later. In this, she would serve through Frontier Day to the present time. As seen in the pictures, Long Branch took interest in her namesake arsenal's most famous product, the Lee-Enfield Rifle No. 4 Mk I bolt-action projectile rifle, of which the arsenal in Canada produced over 1.5 million of the weapons. She taught herself how to make use of that weapon in the infamous "mad minute" style perfected by the British Army before the First World War, where a rifleman could send up to thirty well-aimed shots on target per minute. Long Branch would replicate this several times in a gynoid body during the Dominion War, firing special arounds which contained the deadly DNA-dissolving chemicals used to take down the clone warriors and administrators of the Dominion wholesale. And no, she's not auditioning to take the place of the T-doll named after the Lee-Enfield!
