USS Chicoutimi

Shipgirl AI of USS Chicoutimi, named after a former city on the Rivière Saguenay in east-central Québec which now forms part of the mega-city of Saguenay. She is depicted on the shoreline of one of the lower reaches of the Saguenay enjoying some fishing; unlike what her adopted ancestors among the Mui'n (writer's note: That's the Mi'kmaq name for a bear in real life), she doesn't scoop the tasty morsels out of the river with her claws. Meh, civilization...! Chicoutimi perpetuates two ships of the Royal Canadian Navy which served in World War Two and in the years between the Cold War and World War Three. The first was a Flower-class corvette which worked on the Atlantic convoy run during most of World War Two. The second was a British-built Victoria-class hunter-killer submarine which had been acquired second-hand from the United Kingdom, suffered a devastating fire aboard the ship while it was being delivered to Canada, then remained in a constant state of repair before she was replaced by the German/Norwegian-built Province-class submarines in the early years of Earth's final worldwide conflict. While the "luck of the convoys" didn't strike Chicoutimi during the Dominion War, it would come to haunt her later. She was originally created as the synthetic "soul" of a Sabre-class frigate, commissioned in 2363 and serving through the Dominion War until being paid off in 2379. An improved Sabre-class ship was commissioned two years later, but would suffer a catastrophic warp core breach that nearly destroyed the ship in 2390. Fortunately, Chicoutimi didn't lose many of her crew, so she was in good enough condition to take over one of the first Da Vinci-class destroyers built in 2392, which she serves on to this day.
