USS Prestonian
Shipgirl AI of USS Prestonian, one of many who had to inherit a name that had to be changed due to the Royal Canadian Navy's policy about not duplicating names for their ships in World War Two where a like-named allied vessel was in service. She is named after the town of Preston, one of the three municipalities which merged into becoming the city of Cambridge in 1973. When the original HMCS Prestonian was ordered and the town agreed to adopt the ship, the United States Navy had lost a ship named USS Preston and had ordered another one of the same name, so the Canadian ship's name was changed to prevent confusion. Prestonian the shipgirl perpetuates the above-mentioned HMCS Prestonian, a River-class frigate which served in World War Two and the early part of the Cold War before she was sold to Norway for service as KNM Troll. Prestonian takes after the peoples of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Confederacy on whose lands her namesake town was settled on; said parcel of land was sold off by the Six Nations to permit white settlement in the Grand River valley. She was created as the synthetic "soul" of a Shi'Kahr-class light cruiser, serving as such from commissioning in 2351 to 2388, surviving the Dominion War with little issues. She would get a Parliament-class engineer support ship in 2390 provided by the Sol V yards over Europa, serving to this day, having also easily endured Frontier Day without issues.
