(Not canon, obviously) Some Sith develop swords through Sith Alchemy - blades of immense power, capable of matching lightsabers in terms of ability... sometimes, capable of more. Some Sith, however, do not leave it at that, and imbue the blade with a sentient force - a Sword Wraith, that dwells in the blade, denying unworthy wielders, and channeling its own intent through the force.
