Xander Harris AKA Hyena

Alexander Lavelle Harris A nighttime scene in the city on a Hellmouth, Sunnydale not far from either Sweet Valley or Santa Barbara in southern California overlooking the Santa Barbara Channel to the west of Los Angeles proper. For this time of evening, it's time to hunt...and here, we have one of the two founding members of the Scooby Gang, Xander Harris, having come out in his uniform as the Wild Scavenger of the Plains, Hyena, to track down vampires and other things that go "bump" in the night...but unlike what is seen in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the would-be "zeppo" of the people who gather around the Slayer is clearly NOT helpless. As Hyena, Xander is a ki master, able to manipulate his body's life force to keep him at peak health, not to mention project said force into creating foot-long cutting claws jutting from his fingertips for hacking and slashing; as everything is mesonium-powered, nothing short of any type of neutronium could resist Xander's ki-claws if he struck with enough force (his strength is somewhat compatible to an average vampire who has consumed blood). While he would inherit the standard Yizibajohei distaste towards any sort of "death cheating" (which vampires ultimately do given they're animated corpses), Xander also knows that many of the victims who had fallen to the Sunnydale nightlife are his own peer; one of them being his once-best friend Jesse McNally. During the battles with the Master after Buffy Summers (Virago) moved into town, Xander discovered something when it came to the blood of Gifted Yizibajohei; allow one to injest said blood and they would be effectively restored to life and have the ability to take on metahuman powers. Realizing they could actually SAVE people instead of slaughtering them, the Scooby Gang then unleashed the most unusual anti-vampire campaign ever launched in history: Using freshly given blood in darts, they would capture and inject vampires with same...and if they were recently turned (withing five centuries), they could be saved. Of course, the Scooby Gang gladly made an agreement with the California wing of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to see such "returnees" whisked away and given new lives. While he has fought alongside some very powerful people like Willow Rosenburg (Crimson Heart) and Hayashi Kanami (Mustang), Xander is still something of a trouble-magnet when it comes to certain creatures of the evening. One of them was the infamous "Mummy Girl", born Princess Coya of the Inca who had been subjected to the Draught of Living Death by a Spanish magical conquistator in the early XVI Century; on realizing she was more victim than villain, Xander injected her with some mesonium-charged blood to burn away the effects of the Draught...which saw the woman now calling herself Coya Gutierrez be Gifted as Pacha Kamaq, the Volcano Handmaiden of the Dark Gaol. Naturally grateful for getting the chance to gain a real life for herself, Coya and Xander became lovers and she joined the Scooby Gang. Now if they could only deal with Buffy's boyfriend Liam "Angel" O'Connor...but that's another story.
