Story chapter 33: Otherworld Prisoner
After being uncuffed, Haruka decided there was something she needed to do. If she was going to remain trapped in this strange medieval world, continuing to wear her modern clothes would only make her stand out even more. So she changed. Her blue athletic shorts and white crop top were replaced with a simple medieval-style gray prison garment. The rough, muted fabric covered her much more completely, with long sleeves and a modest neckline. It was plain and practical, but Haruka found it considerably more appropriate for the world she had found herself in. She then turned her attention to her hair. Using what she had available, Haruka carefully restyled it into two long braids, weaving her brown hair until it resembled the hairstyles she had seen among the women of this era. When she finished, she looked over herself calmly. “Much better.” She gently adjusted one of the braids. “At least I won't look quite so strange around here anymore.” Haruka glanced down at her new gray garment. “It isn't exactly my preferred fashion... but it'll do.” She slowly walked around her cell, becoming accustomed to the unfamiliar clothing. The rough fabric felt different from the modern clothes she had arrived in, and the braids made her appearance feel distinctly medieval. Haruka stopped beside the barred window. Beyond it, the stone walls and distant torchlight reminded her that changing her appearance hadn't changed her circumstances. She was still imprisoned. She folded her arms and sighed. “Now I just need to figure out how I'm getting out of here.” For the moment, however, Haruka had no plan. She simply stood by the window, watching the unfamiliar medieval world outside.
