one thread at a time

Scissors aren't usually considered a weapon — but make them bigger than the person holding them, ornate, silver, and heavy enough to sever golden threads of fate, and suddenly they're the most powerful thing in the room. I wanted to bring something unexpected to the "gigantic weapon" brief: not a sword, not an axe, but something quieter and stranger. The scale is what makes it hit — those enormous blades in the hands of a barefoot girl in a cardigan, standing in a field. The weapon doesn't have to be loud to be devastating. Sometimes the most dramatic thing you can do is just open the blades and choose which thread to cut.
