Her left hand rests low and still at her side, fingers closed lightly around the thin cord belt knotted at her waist. The black hooded robe falls in heavy vertical folds from her shoulders, its hood pushed back, arcane silver embroidery tracking the hem and the flared sleeve cuffs in fine geometric sigils that glint only where the rim light grazes them; the pointed black leather boots emerge below the hem, laced to the knee. Around her at chest and shoulder height, small bone implements — knucklebones, a slender rib, a carved vertebra — drift and turn slowly; at her left the thick tome hovers open, spine toward the lens, its pages glowing faintly violet along their edges and stirring as if in a slow breeze, its shadow cast up onto the altar stone. Violet candle flames float in a ragged line along the altar's lip, each flame a teardrop with a hot pale core, and the shadows they throw twist and lengthen across the flagstones at her feet, curling like slow smoke. The candles are the only warm points; every other surface falls into deep purple-black, and a cold violet rim light from behind and to her right separates her shoulders, blindfold edge and raised glove from the dark, while fog drifts low through the chamber and swallows the far vaulting. Palette restricted to black, cold violet, silver-gray and the small hot violets of the flames. Atmospheric, quietly malevolent.
