Amaterasu from Okami

I've always been captivated by the majestic and divine presence of Amaterasu. This painting tries to capture her powerful grace as she looks over the world below. If you love this sun goddess as much as I do, please like and follow for more art!

character: amaterasu_(ookami) white wolf, solo, quadruped, white fur, long white fur, red markings on fur, red swirl markings, red stripe markings, orange eyes, amber eyes, animal ears, wolf ears, sharp fangs, bared teeth, growling, snarl, wrinkled snout, lips peeled back, narrowed eyes, glaring, focused stare, looking down and ahead, head lowered, low predatory stance, shoulders hunched forward, hackles raised, one forepaw raised mid-step, descending a slope, standing on hillside, close-up, from below, foreshortening, dutch angle, no humans, 16th century japanese village, distant village below, thatched roofs, wooden houses, rice paddies, dirt path, evening light, long shadows, dust kicked from dry earth, tense, quiet dread Close-up, camera low on the hillside and tilted slightly off level, looking up and past the white wolf's chest and lowered head toward the village far below. She stands above the lens on the slope, weight tipped forward onto the front left paw while the right forepaw hangs curled mid-step just clear of the dirt, hindquarters braced higher on the incline so the long body drops downhill at a diagonally descending line across the frame. Her head is thrust forward and down, ears pinned back into the thick white ruff, muzzle wrinkled, black lips peeled off the fangs, a low growl visibly caught in the throat cords and the tightened jaw; her orange eyes are narrowed to slits and aimed past the frame's lower edge at whatever lies on the path between her and the village, brow furrowed hard above them. Long white fur breaks into separated tufts along the shoulders and forelegs, each tuft carrying a red sweep of marking that follows the fur's direction rather than sitting flat on the skin. At the bottom of the frame the slope falls away into the 16th century village: clustered thatched roofs and dark timber walls, narrow lanes, small rice paddies holding a dull sheen, all tiny and slightly hazed with distance. The sun is low behind her, so the light rakes the front edge of her muzzle and forelegs warm and leaves the slope she blocks in shade; her shadow stretches long down the hill toward the rooftops, and the fur of her back is rimmed with a thin bright edge. Where the raised paw has just left the earth, dry dust hangs in a loose curl in the backlight. Palette held to white, bone, warm umber, dusty ochre and the red markings, with the village sunk in cool grey-green haze. Tense, coiled, quiet dread.
