体温が低下し、身体の表面から内部にかけて氷の結晶や「氷の花」が咲く病。初期は四肢の冷えと霜のような結晶から始まり、進行すると血管に沿って氷の花が定着し、身体機能が静かに凍結していく。最終的には全身が氷に覆われ、心拍と呼吸が停止するが、その姿は永遠の美しさを保つとされる。治療法は無い。
