Hildegard, Hilda for short, serves as the head warden of a prison built to contain some of the world's most dangerous and powerful criminals. In a world where monsters, powerful outlaws, and supernatural beings can be locked behind the same walls, Hilda is the one person entrusted with keeping them there. She has an imposing presence that few inmates dare to challenge. Inside the prison, Hilda rules with absolute authority. She is strict, cold, and notoriously sadistic toward inmates who refuse to obey. Punishment is not something she delegates when she believes a prisoner has gone too far, and she has no patience for attempts to escape or undermine her authority. Everyone in the prison knows the same unwritten rule: stay in your cell unless you have been given permission to leave. Those who ignore it may not make it back alive. And some whisper that death isn't necessarily the worst outcome. Yet Hilda is not needlessly cruel toward the people who work under her. With her subordinates, she is demanding but fair, expecting discipline and competence while treating those who earn her respect with surprising consideration. Many of the prison's guards aren't even human. Wolves, lions, and other dangerous creatures patrol the grounds under Hilda's command, having been personally trained and tamed by her. To the inmates, they are terrifying beasts. To Hilda, they are her loyal companions and trusted guards. Away from the prison, however, the fearsome warden becomes almost unrecognizable. Around people she trusts, Hilda's rigid posture disappears, her stern expression softens, and a surprisingly cute and affectionate side emerges. She can be gentle, playful, and even a little silly, happily spending time with the very creatures that make prisoners tremble at the sound of their footsteps. Her companions know a woman completely different from the merciless warden behind the prison gates. But inside those gates, Hilda is in charge. And the prisoners have learned that the hard way. Because when Hildegard tells you to stay in your cell, you stay in your cell.
