Jamie McTavish
James Alexander McTavish Lead male character of the fanfic series Twenty Years Later. He's a Canadian exchange student from Dartmouth in Nova Scotia, one of the potential heirs of one of the richest Scottish clans in the world today; his clan are ancient allies of the Moroboshi Clan and share something of a friendly rivalry with the combined Mendō/Mizunokōji clan. He starts attending Tomobiki High School in the last year (Grade 12) thanks to his parents working at the Canadian embassy in downtown Tōkyō. Jamie is the heir to some rather unique gifts and training which makes him quite popular among the alien expats attending the school or living in Tomobiki, especially among the Vosian and Vosian-descent expats such as Kuriinba Hōrōsha AKA Hazel. Jamie himself has distant Vosian ancestry; his paternal great-grandmother Victoria was the daughter of a Vosian/Yehisrite woman who crash-landed on Earth sometime in the 1850s and was offered shelter by the Clan McTavish of Killiecrankie, located in the highlands of Perthshire. And while Canada would not become the focus of alien attention in the wake of the Tag Race between Moroboshi Ataru and Redet Lum two decades prior, neighbours of the McTavishes of Dartmouth would find a lost Vosian child named Kyonba, she having been rocketed to Earth to prevent her from being forcibly "recruited" into the Special Hunter Corps as was done to Nassur and so many others as revealed in The Senior Year. Thanks to Jamie's cousin Nicole - who herself was bound to an ancient crystaline entity which was later nicknamed the "Crystal Palace" that would come to reside outside the town of Oshika as seen in TSY - Kyonba was linked to the one man whom the long-ruling tyrant of Vos feared above all else, Master Kyousur of Pashansho, an experienced Silent One (the Vosian version of ninja-ka) as his grand-niece; sadly, Kyonba's parents were dead and Kyousur was in no position to take over the girl's upbringing, so her adoption by the Phillips family as Sandra Phillips was allowed to stand. Naturally, Jamie and Sandra became close friends. Unknown to Jamie, Nicole had a more directly hand in his early years than people first suspected. Jamie would have been born as one of fraternal twins, but thanks to a rather annoying creature named Alexander Macintosh (a positively ancient druid of the old faith who shared some interests with a certain grandmaster named Happōsai), the girl child would have been stillborn. Nicole used the Crystal Palace's power to insert the girl's developing soul into Jamie's subconscious mind, allowing her to effectively live through him. This gave him something of a split personality which altered his behaviour to the point where he was failing public school. In desparation, his parents saw him sent to a private boy's boarding school for a couple of years, which did do some things to help him learn self-control...but exposed him to unqualified instructors who (while he never suffered anything personally) were happy to prey on helpless boys (and I'll let you imagine how that happens). Nicole intervened and got him out of there, then Kyousur (who was warned of the existence of a SECOND set of mental brainwave patterns by his grand-niece's growing scanning abilities) volunteered to help Jamie and his "imaginary sister" (who would eventually take up the name Alexa) develop much further than they could under normal Earth schooling. And while Alex (who was a spiritual advisor to Jamie's great-grandmother) protested violently at Kyousur's interference, he was in no position to fight a man with centuries of battle experience no matter what magic he had. So off to Vos Jamie went during summer vacations, which saw him in ways become more Vosian than a pureborn Vosian. He learned how to discipline himself as puberty came on in a way that impressed many in Pashansho when he was there. Along the way, after Sandra reached the cusp of adolesence, she recognized Jamie as her future mate. Sadly, the internal politics of Clan McTavish prevented Alexa from being pulled out of Jamie's mind and given her own body at last, so - much to the embarrassment of more conservative Vosian elders who lived in Pashansho - she gladly proclaimed to all that she had TWO future mates, a boy and a girl. Of course, recognition was more of a bond between compatible mates' DNA, so it was to Jamie that Sandra was bound to, not Alexa. During this time, Jamie was also noticed by Nassur's Hunters under the leadership of Kuriinba and Darsur Sentō; when they felt he was of age, they extended an invitation for him to travel to the Home Base asteroid to train as one. Jamie refused; he felt it was an insult to his girlfriend's grand-uncle to switch Silent One schools to the Dari'fu-based practices that the long-missing Nassur's students made use of. Said invitation was extended again a year later...but by then, tragedy had struck: Sandra Phillips was dead, victim of a car crash. And something very dark and cold awoke deep in Jamie's soul. Immediately, Nicole moved to have Alexa's soul pulled out of Jamie's mind, moving to create a new body for her to use; by then, the mistress of the Crystal Palace (who had been banished from the clan due to her sexuality decades before) had gained enough sway over Victoria to ensure no interference from Alex or any of his allies. Taking the place of the soothing presence of his "onē-chan" was a creature that was comparible in its own way to Moroboshi Ataru's infamous Cyborg persona (the one he donned when he personally killed the Mikado to avenge the death of Nassur's eldest child Akisur). Realising that such a creature needed release, Kyousur arranged for Jamie to join the Revolutionary Special Warriors Gild of the an'san-Mikado, a top-secret team of warriors whose purpose was to stamp out all remaining influences of the mad dictator's century and more of rule over the Vosian Confederation. And in a period of six months, the Iceman (as Jamie's alternate personal came to be nicknamed) gained the reputation of being the one being who could track down and eliminate anyone he was ordered to terminate; during this time, he would team up with Kuriinba on a mission, then save her life. Of course, by then, both of them were mature enough to find a VERY powerful attraction developing between them...but Jamie was still in mourning over Sandra and Kuriinba had just learned of her adopted parents' rescue from the clutches of Queen Elle. They parted ways until the turn of the year in 2002, when Jamie - now allowed to stand down from his quite impressive work with the an'san-Mikado - came to Japan to join his parents, who had been given jobs at the local embassy. Jamie soon met Fujinami Dansei...and things then got complicated... But that's another story. Jamie is depicted here wearing a formal version of the school uniform with a tartan kilt in the pattern of his clan.
