- A full body shot from a low, bottom-up vantage, looking straight up as a young jaguargirl (a kemonomimi) drops out of the canopy onto an intruder — a shrine-guardian bound to a jungle ruin, who fights everyone who comes into it. She has a heart-shaped face, a wide mouth drawn off heavy fangs, and eyes of a pale gold-green whose round pupils have narrowed to slits in a shaft of light. Broad, rounded, rosette-marked jaguar ears sit high in her hair, a long heavy spotted tail streams from her, and her large hands carry dark pads. Her skin is a deep warm brown, dappled by the canopy light; her build is soft and rounded and strong. Her hair is a thick, wild black mane to the waist, snagged with leaf and torn vine, a deep black shot through with a broad streak of grey-white, like an old cat. Her makeup is a sheen of animal-fat and wood-ash rubbed over the skin, a bare lip, the brows left heavy and dark. She wears a jaguar-pelt slung and belted low as a short cape-skirt, the cat's head worn as a hood and pushed back off her own ears, and a wrapped band of the same spotted pelt across the bust. Her whole midriff and navel are bare, her back is bare between the hood and the skirt, both shoulders and both arms are bare, and most of both legs are bare below the short pelt. An atlatl spear-thrower with two fletched darts is held ready in one hand, and a circlet of curved jaguar-claws and rough green stones is on her brow. The setting is a jungle-swallowed ruin on a limestone ridge: a collapsed temple facade choked in strangler-fig, a sinkhole cenote opening below the drop, and the canopy closing over the top of it all in a green roof. She has dropped head-down and forward out of the canopy toward an intruder directly below her, one arm cocked with the atlatl for a point-blank cast and the other reaching, her heavy tail streaming straight up and her spotted mane pouring down past her face. Her cocked throwing-arm and dropped head are large and near, while her trailing feet and the canopy-gap she fell through sit small and high above her with the light stabbing past. Leaves and a startled bird burst off the branch she just left, the mane and tail and pelt-cape all stream up with the fall, and a shaft of canopy-light follows her down, catching pollen in the air. The ambient is a green overcast filtering through the canopy, but the gap she came through backlights her hard against the bright green above, rimming the mane and the tail and the pelt in white and dropping her front into shade. It is a bound-to-the-ruin, canopy-drop Mesoamerican jungle-empire register. Painterly European adventure-comic style: rich, confident linework and warm, textured colour carrying the whole scene, deep jungle shadow worked in layered brushwork, a palette of wet green, spotted gold and limestone-grey.
