Dr. Helena Voss

Dr. Helena Voss was a renowned biologist and a leading figure in the secret Experimental Studies Branch of the Dolorosa Megacity government just prior to the Apocalypse. Initially, as part of broader projects concerning the Megacity's "security" and "survival" amidst an increasingly hostile global political climate, Voss and her team were ordered to develop chemical and biological weapons—ostensibly under the guise of creating potent new fertilizers and genetically modified crops. However, the operation soon began to take a bizarre and sinister turn. Voss received conflicting orders regarding the use of unorthodox or entirely unknown substances—the latter seemingly sent from obscure locations via inexplicable means. Eventually, Voss was contacted by a demonic entity serving the Prince of Blood; this entity secured the absolute loyalty of the doctor, as well as that of many high-ranking government officials and members of the research branch itself. Thus, the groundwork was laid for the future "Foulblood Coven," which would repurpose the biochemical weapons research to serve its new master's malevolent designs, creating "vessels" for corrupted blood—superior warriors capable of subjugating the world. Yet, the premature outbreak of the Apocalypse derailed these initial plans, though it did grant the Coven free rein to operate without government interference. However, one member of the original team—unaware of her colleagues' descent into a cult-like agenda—had discovered the Coven's true loyalties and intentions, subsequently fleeing with her young daughter. She managed this escape by briefly taking Dr. Voss hostage; she then broke free by shooting Voss in her right leg with a special round that exploded, completely destroying the limb. Near death, Dr. Voss surrendered herself entirely to her treacherous master.
