The Rain and the Beast

"Feel good, doesn't it?" Her whisper was barely audible under the pouring rain, but with his enhanced senses, he could hear every word clearly. It did help, if only a little. The cold woke him from his bloodlust and dulled the aching sensation all over his body after she had just slammed him into a nearby wall before he could bite anyone. "We still need to find a blood source. Drinking rainwater won't keep you from starving." "Relax~ You should feel lucky I'm here to stop you from acting like a beast. I'll take you somewhere you can get some food later. Though I have to warn you first, it's not from humans, so the taste is... well, a bit unsavory." He scoffed, looking up toward the sky while murmuring quietly, "As if drinking tasty blood will help you forget you just murdered someone." She let out a soft chuckle, lifting her hand to shield her eyes from a few falling droplets. "Don't be so confident. Some completely lose themselves after a single taste. In a dire situation, the 'man' within you might not be able to overcome the beast that craves survival." "You're getting way too cryptic." Her smile didn't fade, it only widened as she continued whispering, "Indeed. I guess living like this for too long makes a few habits rub off on you." She then tilted her head, grinning mischievously at him. "Who knows, maybe you'll become a gentleman one of these days? A lot of people like cold, handsome vampire dukes." He replied with a deadpan expression, placing a hand over his stomach. "I'll pass, thanks. My brain gets tired of all that mysterious talk. Anyway, can we leave now? I'm worried someone will pass by and see us as freaks lying in the middle of the road. I don't want to lose control and have you throw me against another wall." She didn't answer immediately. Her fingers twitched gently, as if playing a silent melody with the raindrops, before she murmured to herself: "Rain... Just the coldness already helps a lot... But I guess having someone beside you isn't so bad either."
