モチーフ馬はアグネスタキオン＆フライト兄弟、エアジハードやユキノビジンの祖父にしてダスカの曾祖父、父としてもワカオライデンやアグネスフローラを輩出したアメリカ産馬、ロイヤルスキー様でございます。 1976年にデビューして生涯戦績は14戦8勝、主な勝ち鞍はローレルフューチュリティ (G1) 、レムゼンステークス (G2) 、ヘリテージステークス (G3) 。1979年から日本で種牡馬生活を送るのですが一部で“気性が荒い”との評もありました。しかし私が出会ったのは晩年に近かったためか、“賢い”印象の方が強かった子です。馬の世界に入りたてで右も左もわからない、“頼りなさげなペーペーの新人”に喝を入れようと思ったのか、「一丁ビビらせて、どっちが格上なのか教育してやろう」と悪巧みを考えたのかは今となっては判りません。興味本位で牧柵越しに近づいた私の左腕をいきなり“ガブリ！”気の弱い一般人ならここでパニックを起こすのでしょうが、事前に扶桑牧場の牧夫さんたちからレクチャーされていた私は痛がる素振りも見せず、ただ黙って彼にガブガブされ続けました。その間約10分。きっと「コイツ、ビビりもしない。面白くないヤツだ」と飽きられたのでしょう…ロイ様はじんわり血の滲み始めた私の左腕を解放すると、何事もなかったかのように牧草を食み始めたのです。そして月日は流れ数年後、一端の社会人となってあくせく働く私の就職先で馬主でもあった大城会長が一頭の牝のサラブレッドに惚れこんで社台さんから購入して来ました。皆まで言わずともお判りでしょうが、これが後の名牝・ダイワスカーレットとなるのです。初めて血統書を目にした時はビックリしました。因みに今でも私の左腕には薄っすらとですが、ロイ様の歯形が残されています…おうまさんのかむちからはきょうりょくだ！ Roy:「Hey, Trainer.
