The shot is taken from a low dutch angle, tilted a few degrees off level and looking up, so the flagpole cuts a hard diagonal from the lower left of the frame toward the upper right. On the right of the frame, Charizard stands in a cowboy shot, three-quarter turned toward the pole and slightly away from the camera, weight settled back on the right leg with the left foot forward and toes gripping the track surface. His orange scaled body catches the hard daylight along the shoulder and jaw, the flame at the tip of his tail curling up behind him as the only warm accent against the cool sky, and wide leathery wings half-folded but lifted at the shoulders from the sprint he just won. His muzzle is split in a wide open grin, fangs showing at the corner, eyes crinkled at the outer edges, and a heavy blush burns across both cheeks and the bridge of his snout, red under the orange scales. One clawed hand is still raised near the pole, fingers curled from the knot he just tied; the other rests at his hip. He is looking up at the towel, not at the camera, chin lifted, proud and pleased with himself.
On the left of the frame, Aggron's body stands headless and upright in a black hoodie, the hood collapsed empty over the bare neck stump, which is visible as a smooth steel-gray ring of hide below the collar with nothing above it. The hoodie's fabric is heavy cotton, wrinkled from the race, sleeves pushed to the forearm, and the body's posture is off balance: knees bent, torso twisted toward the pole, shoulders hunched forward. Both arms are lifted and reaching up and inward toward where the face should be, claws spread and splayed wide, fingertips a hand's width from the empty collar, straining as if trying to grab the head that is no longer attached. The steel-plated feet plant flat on the running track, one heel lifted.
High above, jammed over the top of the flagpole and tied tight with a cord at one corner so it hangs and flaps as a flag, is the gray towel. It is Aggron's own head: a wide gray cloth, thick terry texture, edges rounded into the shape of the ears at the two upper corners, so the ears go with the towel. Aggron's face is stamped across the whole spread of it, stretched flat, the spiral black eyes rendered as tight continuous whorls winding inward on the fabric and the dizzy mouth drawn as a wavering wobbly line low on the cloth. The entire towel surface glows a deep saturated red from the blush, and it is soaked through with sweat, dark damp patches pooling at the lower hanging folds, a few beads of moisture visibly running and dripping off the bottom tip. The cloth curls and snaps in the wind, ripples running along its length, one corner flipping over itself so a sliver of the stamped face disappears into the fold. Through the fabric the face still reads, red and terrified and dizzy.
The lighting is hard midday sun from the upper left, casting sharp shadows to the lower right: the flagpole's long shadow across the track, the Aggron body's shadow running under the raised arms, Charizard's wing shadow thrown behind him. The palette is gray, black, orange and red, with the sun-bleached warm gray of the track and a pale blue sky behind. In the background, a race track curving away with white lane lines and a low fence at the far edge, kept simplified and out of focus so the two figures hold the eye. The sweat on the towel drips in a visible line toward the sand below. Triumphant and mortifying.
