Her mouth is wide open in a full-throated laugh, eyes squeezed shut into happy crescents, head tipped back a touch, and both arms stretched out in front of her with the fingers hooked into loose claws, a playful grab reaching for the other girl's shoulder and not yet touching it. Her braid swings forward past her cheek and her puffy short sleeves lift with the motion of her run.
The camera is low and close, so the fleeing girl's near shoulder and outflung hand are large and slightly soft in the foreground while the laughing chaser stays sharp and central; a shallow depth of field blurs the pavement stripes streaking past them. Late-afternoon sun rakes in from the upper left, hot and low, laying long crisp shadows of both runners diagonally across the ground to the lower right; the fleeing girl's shadow stretches ahead of her feet while the pursuer's shadow almost touches its heel, and the flecks of dust kicked up between them catch the light in a bright low haze.
