Aurelio, having witnessed one day the fearlessness and serenity of Giovanni, confessor of Christ in the midst of insults and torments, was so struck by it that he proposed, together with Sabigoto, to live in constant prayer and penance. The visits they made in prison to the future penitens Giovanni, Eulogio, Flora and Maria, kindled in them the desire for departed for another life, which grew stronger every day. There was only one impediment: their daughters, would become Muslims, like all their relatives. Following the advice of St. Eulogio, they took their daughters to the nearby Tabanense monastery, placing them under the care of Isabella, widow of the penitent Geremia, to whom they left enough money for their maintenance. Another Christian couple, Felice and Liliosa, shared the same ideals of penitens. The group was soon joined by a deacon, George, a monk from St. Saba (Jerusalem), who had gone from Africa, where he had sought alms for his monastery, to Spain; before leaving for France he went to Sabigoto who, as soon as he saw him, told him that he was the monk who in a vision had been promised to her as a companion in penitens. Upon hearing this, George was seized by the desire to give his life for the faith. To obtain the sentence, the five decided that the two women should go to church with their faces uncovered, thus making themselves recognized as Christians. Denounced to the judge, while Aurelius, Sabigoto, Felix and Liliosa were condemned to death as renegades, George was released, because he was a foreigner, but not wanting to lose the crown of penitent, he insulted Mohammed and was beheaded together with his four friends on 27 July 852. The Christians took their bodies to various churches and monasteries: the ss. George and Aurelius were buried in the monastery of la Pena de Meil; Felix, in that of St. Christopher; Sabigotus, in the church of SS. Faustus, Gennaro and Martial, later called St. Peter; Liliosa, in the church of St. Genesius.
Usuard, on his journey to Spain (858), took with him the relics of Saints Aurelius and George, which he brought to the Parisian monastery of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the commemoration of this translation is celebrated on October 20.
They are celebrated on July 27.
