Jian bird (比翼鳥)

• Habitat: Mythical mountains of ancient China, notably Mount Chongwu as described in the Classic of Mountains and Seas • Length: Unknown • Weight: Unknown • Migration: Resident • Appearance: The Jian bird is a legendary creature famously characterized by its incomplete biology, possessing only one eye and one wing on the same side of its body. Traditional texts often describe its form as resembling wild ducks, adorned with vibrant plumage in shades of green, blue, and red. Because a single bird is physically incapable of flight, two birds (one male and one female) must find one another and firmly join side by side, combining their bodies to function as a single, fully capable organism. This physical necessity to fly and survive together has made them an enduring, ancient symbol of eternal love, marital harmony, and inseparable partnership • Original Motif: Jian bird (比翼鳥) * Translation errors may occur.
