A young girl sits sideways on a vast mound of colorful glass marbles, knees folded beneath her, barefoot, wearing a white sleeveless one-piece dress with delicate lace trim along the neckline and hem, the soft skirt flaring out around her with stray marbles resting in its folds. Her long silky hair falls loose, the tips glowing translucent where the light passes through, a few strands caught across her cheek. She raises one arm high and pinches a single glass marble between her fingertips, gazing straight at the camera through that raised marble. Countless marbles of many different sizes surround her, red and blue and yellow and green and amber all mixed together, each one deeply transparent with twisted ribbons of colored glass suspended inside and tiny air bubbles frozen in place. Each upper eyelash is drawn separately, the lower lashes fine and delicate, a faint flush of blood colour in the thin eyelid.
