USS Protecteur

Shipgirl AI of USS Protecteur, the third of the Project Fort starships which were built specifically to fulfil the rôle of an auxiliary oil replenishment vessel of old; she would carry a mixture of necessary cargo wherever she goes in support of any flotilla of starships which might be operating well beyond the support of a convenient starbase. She takes the physical form of a "forced augment" from Québec, as she sees the town of Otterburn Park on the Rivière Richelieu near Montréal (once the location of a namesake Royal Canadian Sea Cadet corps) as her adopted home town. Like other Port Weller girls, Protecteur the shipgirl perpetuates the two HMC Ships of the same name...and at the same time, also perpetuates ships of the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy of the English translation of said name, "Protector". The first HMCS Protecteur was the lead ship of her own class of auxiliary oil replenishment ships, serving from 1969-2015. The second was the first Seaspan-built ship of the type, which commissioned in the early years of World War Three and would serve for the majority of that conflict. She would also be allowed to perpetuate HMCS Protector, a "stone frigate" from World War Two based at Point Edward on Cape Breton Island which would be paid off at war's end and become the training site of the Canadian Coast Guard College. In the "union of the honours" carried out by the British Commonwealth in 2110, the battle honours of like-named ships from the Royal Navy (a line of seven vessels) and the Royal Australian Navy (a line of two vessels) were combined in. Protecteur has the right to bear two warship crests on her battle honours board, the blue Canadian one with the knight's helmet and the red British/Australian one with the demi-gryphon. Protecteur is the one people turn to when it comes to things that go "bang". While she would never confirm nor deny same, she gladly supported Section 31 and other elements of Starfleet Intelligence when it came to transporting special weapons into the Bajor sector for use against the Dominion, a service she tolerated as the leader of Starfleet Intelligence was an Andorian-form Questor, Fleet Admiral Ky'los Shyrae. Protecteur's career in Starfleet parallels that of her sisters, going from a modified Edward-class cargo ship (2330-2364) to a Fabrux-class tender (2366-2376, such condemned thanks to the wear and tear from the Dominion War) to an Olympic-class medical science ship (2378-2398) to a modified Horizon-class science ship (commissioned a year before Frontier Day and active to this day).
