Roberta Carlotta Ansaldo di Bergamini, Vongola Patrizia di Roma et Trieste The image of Italy's most tragic battleship reborn as a first generation battle doll shipgirl, this is the reborn RM Roma known now as Roberta Ansaldo. Her name suffix "di Bergamini" pays salute to her admiral who was killed when she was struck and sunk by a Fritz-X glider bomb before she could reach the safety of an Allied port in 1943, Squadron Admiral (equivalent to a vice admiral) Carlo Bergamini (1898-1943). The first Italian shipgirl to be reborn under Italian command on the anniversary of her commissioning on 14 June 2012 (she wasn't the first Italian shipgirl though as two submarines later seized by Japan were reborn at the start of April that year), then would be assigned as a liaison officer to the growing shipgirl corps on Promised Island in Japan...which is when she met Moroboshi Ataru. It was love at first sight...and would, once Ataru was Gifted as Rake, see Roberta undergo "nesting season" (an ultra-condensed drive to bear a child which normally hits Yizibajohei women in their mid-twenties) and become pregnant with their child at the end of the first main story. Roberta inherited something else when she was salvaged and Gifted. As several of her crew were members of the metahuman Mafia (from Katekyō Hitman Reborn!), she inherited the ability to master Dying Will Flames. In specific, she is a mistress of Rain Flames as befitting her rôle as formation flagship; the tranquility such a power allows her to project keeps subordinates in line very much like Saeru Hinako (Suiki) can with her empathy. In fact, the Spirit of Innocence was happy to teach her bro-bro's new girlfriend (and informal fleet flagship) how to better use her powers, doing so in such a way that even impressed the World's Strongest Hitman himself, Renalto "Reborn" Sinclair (who is in Japan at the time training the next leader of the Vongola family, Sawada Tsunayoshi)! Thus, as with all shipgirls of Italy who were touched by Dying Will Flames, Roberta is accorded honourary membership in the Vongola family, hence her being declared "patrizia" (female patrician) within the Vongola family, hailing of both her namesake city and her place of construction as RM Roma. As to what would happen to any child born of her and her beloved Tesoro, that...is another story.
