Caught mid-stride with his body tilted sharply in motion, his front foot compresses hard into the moist, aging carpet, leaving dark, waterlogged indentations in the damp pile, while his other leg kicks back in a desperate drive. His torso torques as he glances frantically back over his right shoulder, wide blue eyes dilated in pure terror, triangular fox ears pinned flat against his skull, and mouth agape in an unvoiced scream. One white-gloved hand reaches desperately toward the viewer, fingers splayed, while his two bushy yellow-and-white tails whip behind his hips in a wash of motion blur. Receding deep behind him, the endless liminal corridor extends into an unsettling, barren labyrinth lined with peeling, damp mono-yellow wallpaper. In the dim mid-distance around a far 90-degree corner, a tall, spindly, pitch-black entity lurks half-revealed, its shadowy outline clinging to the wall and projecting a jagged shadow along the floorboards. Overhead, long repeating rows of fluorescent light tubes flicker and buzz with an oppressive hum, bathing the entire scene in a sickly yellow-green glow that falls unevenly across the wet carpet fibers and damp paper seams. Streaks of directional motion blur stretch the receding walls and floor along the axis of escape. Paralyzing dread.
