Both of her small, visibly trembling hands clutch a compact matte-black submachine gun, pressing its receiver flush against her sternum directly beneath her red neck ribbon. Her white sailor blouse stretches slightly under the diagonal canvas strap of a tactical ammo pouch slung over her shoulder, falling toward the waistband of her navy pleated skirt. Her long pale-pink hair tumbles past her shoulders in fine, shivering strands, accentuated by a prominent drooping ahoge that curls limply forward between her eyes. Her wide brown eyes are glossy with unshed tears welling over the lower rims, her eyebrows sharply pinched and angled in anguish, and her teeth are clamped tightly together as a heavy pink blush floods across her nose and cheeks in a mix of panic and fierce determination. She directs her quivering gaze straight forward past the frame. Behind her, towering vertical tree trunks recede into a creamy, out-of-focus background created by the shallow depth of field. Warm, horizontal dusk sunlight pierces the dense canopy, casting long soft shadows across the sun-dappled dirt path and catching the edges of her silhouette in an amber rim light, while the setting sun creates sharp, bright highlights within the pooling tears in her eyes. Desperate resolve.
