Viewed from slightly above, a small child sits forward on a weathered wooden park bench, hunching their shoulders cosily against the crisp outdoor air. Both hands are cupped together, gripping a steaming roasted sweet potato wrapped in a sleeve of crinkled brown paper, its charred purplish skin peeled back to display the dense, radiant golden-orange flesh inside. The child's cheeks are round and flushed pink, blowing a gentle breath across the hot tuber with parted lips and focused amber eyes. At the crown of their head, two fluffy brown cat ears with soft pale inner down tilt forward attentively, while their short tousled chestnut hair catches a stray scarlet maple leaf snagged lightly against the strands. They are dressed in a thick, oversized mustard-yellow ribbed knit sweater with sleeves bunching over the wrists, paired with warm brown corduroy trousers, their small shoes resting flat on the stone ground amidst a thick scatter of shed foliage. Low autumn sunlight filters through a canopy of vermilion and copper-red maple trees behind them, throwing dappled golden rays onto the bench and catching the translucent coil of white steam that wavers away from the sweet potato in the child's breath. The surrounding park recedes into soft, sun-drenched bokeh of glowing orange and deep umber. Tender and heartwarming.
