A low-angle wide shot looking up from the river's edge. The girl stands on a mossy stone bank, leaning slightly forward with her weight shifted onto her left leg. She holds a large wooden hake waterwheel—a wheel where the paddles are replaced by wide, flat paint-brushes—which is partially submerged in the rushing current. Her right hand grips the wooden axle of the wheel, while her left hand is raised, fingers splayed in a playful gesture as she watches the water. The rushing river pushes the wheel, causing the brush-paddles to dip into the stream and flick arcs of glistening water into the air. The bright midday sun strikes her from the upper left, casting sharp shadows on the stones beneath her and making the aqua tones of her long twintails glow. The palette is dominated by the vivid aqua of her hair, the deep greens of the riverbank moss, and the sparkling white foam of the water. The water creates a fine mist that clings to the lower hem of her grey pleated skirt. Refreshing and whimsical.
