She sits poised on her knees upon patches of green grass sprouting between fractured stone pavers, her shoulders draped in a muted traveler's cloak. Her head tilts slightly as she casts her gaze demurely off to the side, avoiding direct eye contact; her single visible amber-gold eye glances downward while a dark three-toed talon mark rests over her closed opposite eyelid, and a faint rosy blush warms her cheeks. From the first-person perspective, the viewer's left hand reaches into frame to gently cup the soft curve of her jaw, the thumb resting tenderly against her blushed cheek. In the viewer's other hand, polished metal shears are held tight against her scalp, blades snipping cleanly through a dense lock of hair. One half of her head has been shorn close into an even, velvety buzz of pale stubble that reveals the clean curve of her temple and ear, while the remaining half cascades in thick, soft, voluminous waves of dusty rose-brown. Freshly severed tufts of hair drift suspended mid-fall, twisting and accelerating downward through the air under gravity toward the grass below. In the midground, decayed Gothic arches and broken stone pillars frame the deep night sky, where the distant silhouette of a colossal, luminous golden tree towers over the horizon, casting radiant amber rim light along her shorn scalp, the shearing blades, and the drifting loose strands, contrasting against the quiet twilight shadows of the stone nave. Intimate, tender.
