In the front lead, a girl with vibrant chestnut-brown twin tails and perked horse ears drives her knee forward in a massive, powerful stride; her left racing flat slams into the packed earth, tearing up clumps of dirt and a plume of white chalk dust. She wears an ornate crimson-and-white race outfit with a pleated runner's skirt flaring sharply backward with the wind, her matching horse tail streaming horizontally behind her waist, and her teeth gritted in a radiant, fiercely competitive grin with eyes locked directly ahead on the finish line. Just half a step behind on her inside flank, a second runner with short windblown silver-grey hair and pinned-back horse ears leans hard into the turn; dressed in a sleek navy-and-white racer's uniform with a pinned number bib, she drives her elbows back in rapid rhythm, crystalline droplets of sweat flying straight backward from her temple and jawline as she glares with narrowed, fiery eyes at the leader's shoulder. On the outside lane, a third girl with a soaring black ponytail and arched ears strains forward with an outstretched torso, clad in a fitted orange-and-gold race uniform, her mouth open in a spirited roar of exertion as her spiked shoes dig into the track. Behind them, the school grounds erupt in wild festival energy: white event tents line the turf infield where crowds of cheering classmates wave flags, while between the light poles overhead strings of triangular pennant bunting flutter violently in the slipstream. Suspended across the front of the spectator tent in the midground, a wide red-and-white canvas banner reads "校内運動会" in bold brush lettering. Direct midday sunlight strikes the athletes from high above, casting crisp, shortened shadows beneath their pounding soles and reflecting brilliant highlights along the curve of their shoulders and limbs. Clean linework. Colors are gentle, skin tones smooth and glossy, with expressive eyes. Exhilarating, triumphant energy.
