〇 Bael (Goetia) She is one of the 72 demons recorded in the *Goetia* and holds the supreme rank of "First Spirit," placing her at the very pinnacle of their hierarchy. As a Great King of Hell, she commands sixty-six legions. Her true identity is that of the ancient deity "Baal" (sometimes called Baal-Zebul), who once ruled the land of Canaan and was worshipped by Semitic peoples. Although she governed that region for ages, she was eventually driven out by the forces of "Heaven"—an emerging power seeking to expand its influence over the mortal realm. She subsequently joined forces with certain archangels to challenge the Heavenly army. However, faced with an overwhelming disparity in military strength, she was forced to retreat. During the withdrawal, she served as the rearguard; acting as a human shield to protect her allies from pursuing angels, she absorbed the brunt of the enemy's fierce onslaught as she descended into the Demon World. Gravely wounded and on the verge of annihilation, Baal made the decision to split her own body in two to escape her dire predicament. This resulted in the birth of two distinct entities: "Beelzebub," a male demon who serves as the acting Demon King, and "Bael," a female demon. Regarding their relationship, Bael is considered the elder sister and Beelzebub the younger brother, based on the order in which they awakened. Currently, she serves as one of the three generals under Lucifuge Rofocale, holding the position of Director of Internal Affairs for the Demon World. Having originally been a deity, she possesses immense power by birthright. While she primarily wields the elements of wind and earth, she is also capable of manipulating light, darkness, water, and fire at a moderate level of proficiency. Her individual combat prowess is immense; it is said that she can single-handedly overwhelm the armies of the Demon Realm and the Celestial Realm—forces comprising "ten legions," equivalent to a military strength of 300,000 to 500,000 human soldiers. While illustrations in the *Dictionnaire Infernal* depict her with the body of a spider and the heads of a crowned man, a cat, and a frog, the form manifested here adopts a design I once conceived for a 3D maid game, portraying her as a bewitchingly beautiful woman. She possesses a shrewd and elusive personality, yet she commands respect—and wariness—not only from other demons but also from beings of the Celestial and Buddhist realms. The overwhelming, imposing aura she radiates makes it impossible for anyone to ignore her presence. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that the unity of the Demon Realm—a nation composed of diverse races—hinges on her, her younger brother Beelzebub, and the Prime Minister Lucifuge. She rarely stays in the Demon Realm's central capital, preferring instead to spend her time in the various territories she holds across the realm. Specifically, she bases herself either at the mansion in her largest territory—the Eastern Domain—or in a separate office building located within the grounds of the Eastern Domain's administrative headquarters.
