More to See

2girl, 1boy, couple, holding hands, interlocked fingers, lovers, wet clothes, wet shirt, see-through, translucent clothing, rain, rain shelter, bus stop, standing under, school uniform, sailor collar, pleated skirt, white shirt, short sleeves, blue skirt, black hair, wet hair, school bag, from side, profile, medium shot, cowboy shot, looking at each other, blush, closed mouth, gentle smile, leaning together, shoulders touching, rain droplets, puddle, overcast, grey palette. A medium side-profile shot, close enough that the two of them fill most of the frame: a high school boy and a high school girl stand shoulder to shoulder under the narrow glass-and-steel shelter of a small roadside bus stop, seen from the side so the wet street recedes behind them. The boy stands on the left in a white short-sleeved button-down shirt gone transparent where the rain has soaked it, clinging flat to his shoulders and chest, the fabric pooling darker and see-through across his back; navy blue trousers darken at the cuffs from splashing, and a black leather school bag hangs from one strap over his left shoulder, its flap beaded with water. His short black hair is plastered down in wet strands against his forehead, one lock dripping onto his brow. The girl stands on his right, slightly nearer the camera, her shoulder-length black hair tucked behind her ears but still heavy and wet, ends dripping onto the wet collar of her white short-sleeved sailor blouse, which the rain has made a translucent film over her back and arms, its collar band and cuffs reading crisp even soaked; her pleated navy skirt hangs limp and dark with water. Between them their hands meet low at hip height, fingers laced tight and interlaced, knuckles pressed together, her thumb hooked over the back of his hand; both arms angle inward, drawing their shoulders into contact, his upper arm flush against hers. Her weight rests on her near leg with the far knee slightly bent, her chin tilted up and turned toward him; he has turned his head down toward her, and their eyes meet in a quiet shared look, his mouth closed in a faint, tired, warm smile, hers answering with a small one and a light flush across her cheeks. Rain streaks down in fine diagonal lines past the shelter's edge, beading along the metal roof lip and running in rivulets down the glass panel behind them; beyond the shelter the asphalt is slick and mirror-black, and the puddles under the roof edge show the grey daylight sky, darker and softer than the sky itself. The light is flat, cool, overcast daylight from a high grey sky, coming from beyond the street and wrapping both figures evenly, with the shelter's roof casting a soft shadow band across their upper faces; the only warmth is the slight pink of their skin where it presses together. The palette holds cool grey sky, wet asphalt black, the white of soaked shirts, and the deep navy of skirt and trousers, nothing else admitted. Atmosphere: hushed, intimate, tender.
