More to See

1boy, solo, adult male, short spiky ash-blond hair, tanuki-like ears made of sand, sand ears, one tail, sand tail, black sand patterns on tail, sunglasses, dark sunglasses, proud, combative, smirk, clenched teeth grin, from below, low angle, foreshortening, cowboy shot, arms crossed, standing on one leg, tiptoes, leaning forward, head tilt, looking down at viewer, looking at another, magic, dust and sand rising, wind, glowing eyes behind sunglasses, hakama, bare chest, muscular, sandals, wrist wraps, outdoors, barren sandy plateau, dusk, orange sky, dramatic clouds, particle effects, glowing sand, magic aura shot from below, low angle looking up at a single adult man standing on a wind-scoured sandy plateau at dusk -- he plants his weight on the ball of his right foot, left leg lifted and bent with the knee high, the raised foot hanging relaxed, and both forearms folded tight across his chest, right wrist locked over left, knuckles of his right hand gripping his own left upper arm. His tail, a thick coil of packed sand, sweeps out to the right of the frame behind his hip, its surface carved with black sand patterns that run in dry ripples from the base to the tip like cooling lava, and the tip curls upward in a slow hook; grains shed from its underside trail behind it in the wind. Above his head, two tanuki-like ears of loose, sculpted sand sit forward-tilted and alert, their crisp silhouette catching the low sun, a fine trickle of grains breaking from the left ear's rim. Dark sunglasses cover his eyes, the black lenses catching two hot rectangular highlights of the setting sun; behind and around the frames a faint, unfocused glow bleeds outward, the only visible sign of the immense magical power packed under his skin. His smirk is one-sided and hard, a corner of his mouth pulled high, teeth just visible, chin tucked, and his head is tipped down so that the lenses aim straight down the camera's axis even as the camera looks up at him from boot level. A hakama in deep charcoal hangs from his waist, its hem snapping and lifting in the gusts, and a broad sash wraps his middle, one loose end flapping out to the left. He wears simple sandals, wrist wraps on both forearms, and nothing else beyond the hakama and sash; his chest and shoulders are bare, painted by the low light. The sun sits behind his right shoulder, low and hard, so that a long warm rim runs down that side of his jaw, his right shoulder, his hip and the right ridge of his tail, and the front of him falls into cool dusk shadow; the sand under him is streaked with his long cast shadow, which is thrown forward and to the lower left of the frame, toward the camera. Wind is the invisible force the picture makes visible: the furrows of the plateau run one direction, the tail's grains stream out sideways, the hakama hem lifts, and near his feet a loose spiral of sand grains is drawn up into a small rising column. The palette is the plateau's -- burnt orange sky, dusky violet shadow, ash-grey cloth, and the single black note of the sand patterns and the sunglasses -- with no other colours admitted. A wide, clean negative sky fills the upper third so that his silhouette reads against it. Proud, combative.
