More to See

character: velvette_(hazbin_hotel) 1girl, solo, dark-skinned female, long multicolored hair, pink hair, twintails, very long hair, white eyes, colored sclera, red sclera, bikini, doll joints, ball-jointed doll, visible joint seams, sitting, sitting on sand, beach, eating, chocolate bar, holding food, two-piece swimsuit, bare ears, bare earlobes, bare hands, no gloves, from below, low angle, close-up, looking at viewer, half-closed eyes, smug, lopsided smirk, head tilt, leaning back, arm support, parted lips, teeth, sandy hands, ocean, horizon, bright daylight, The camera sits low in the sand, tilted up from just above the ground, so the pale sky fills the upper third and the girl rises over the lens from the shoreline. She is seated on the wet-packed sand where the beach slopes toward the water, hips settled onto the sand, legs folded to one side with one knee raised and her weight propped on the heel of her left hand pressed flat behind her for balance, shoulder rolled back. Her right hand holds a half-eaten chocolate bar up near her lips; her teeth are just closing on the corner of it and the top edge is soft from the warmth, one thin thread of melted chocolate running down the side of the bar onto her thumb knuckle. Her tongue flicks at the corner of her mouth. Her bikini is a bright two-piece in hot pink and deep violet, the cups and the hip ties crisp against her dark skin; the sunlight rakes the exposed grain of the sand, the wet sheen of her shoulders and the oil-slick gloss on her skin. Along her wrists, her elbows, her knuckles and the visible ball of her shoulder and the line of her hip, the joints read as smooth porcelain-like seams: fine ring creases where the skin meets a just-slightly-glossier sphere, with a hint of pale inner rim catching the light, so her arm bends like a doll's limb rather than flesh. Her ears are bare, no earrings, no jewelry anywhere on her, hands entirely uncovered. The long twintails of pink and multicolored hair spill down her back and over one shoulder, lifting slightly in the sea breeze and trailing onto the sand, a few grains stuck to the strands. Behind her, the ocean is a band of bright turquoise and the horizon is a clean line; in the far background a small beach umbrella and a couple of distant figures are simplified to soft shapes. The light comes hard from the upper left, high sun, so her shadow is short and dense under her hip and the chocolate bar casts a thin black line across her bikini top; the foam edge of the surf glows white. Palette: hot pink, violet, turquoise, sand-beige and deep warm brown for the chocolate, nothing else admitted. The doll-joint seams are the one crisp, single-variable detail: each joint's inner rim catches a specular ring of light while the surrounding skin stays matte. Sun-drenched, playful.
