More to See

character: noelle_holiday 2girls, split screen, vertical split, two-panel layout, comic, diptych, left panel goth Noelle, right panel school Noelle, anthropomorphic reindeer girl, brown skin, freckles, small antlers, deer ears, red nose, blonde long hair, brown eyes, buck teeth, deer tail, hooves, smile, open mouth, cute, left panel: dark eyeshadow, dark lipstick, black choker, fishnet stockings, barefoot, walking, sidewalk, rural town street, autumn trees, fallen leaves, right panel: bare face, no makeup, white collar, red checkered green sweater vest, black sleeves, black skirt, floor-length long skirt, white cuffs, sitting, school desk, classroom, window in background, from side, autumn afternoon light, full color A single colored comic page split by one clean black vertical gutter running exactly down the middle, the gutter cutting a hard boundary between two worlds that meet nowhere. LEFT PANEL: seen from the side in a three-quarter back view as she walks away down the sidewalk, the goth Noelle strides forward mid-step -- left hoof planted heel-first on the concrete, right leg lifted and swinging through, a small gap and a soft clack of contact implied by the shadow her lifted hoof casts beneath it. She wears a dark plum choker at her throat, a black off-shoulder fishnet top over a black camisole, a worn black denim miniskirt, fishnet stockings torn with small deliberate ladders, and her hooves are bare, each pale hoof-rim pressed flat to the pavement with dust on the stubble of her ankles. Her dark eyeshadow is smoke smudged outward at both outer corners, her lashes heavy with mascara, her mouth painted a deep near-black plum. She smiles with her mouth open, buck teeth showing at the front of the grin, chin lifted, eyes half-lidded and looking ahead down the sidewalk toward the vanishing point where the road bends out of frame. Her long blonde hair blows back over one shoulder with the motion, one deer ear swept out to the side, her small dark antlers catching light; the deer tail flicks out from under the skirt hem. The street is a small rural town: cracked concrete sidewalk, a low brick storefront with an illegible faded awning on the left, a fire hydrant, power lines overhead, an empty two-lane road, and rows of autumn trees -- red-light maples, light elms -- dropping leaves that scatter on the pavement and catch in the gutter between panels. Cool low-angled afternoon light from the right, long shadows raked across the sidewalk away from the viewer, the whole left half graded in moody cool light and shadow. RIGHT PANEL: seen from a three-quarter side view, the school Noelle sits at her wooden classroom desk, spine leaning slightly forward, both hooves resting crossed at the ankle under the desk, her hands folded on the desk edge -- right hand over left, fingertips tucked -- with the white cuffs peeking clean from the long black sleeves. Her face is completely bare of cosmetics, freshly clean: no eyeshadow, no mascara, no lip colour, just her natural brown skin and a scatter of freckles across the bridge of her nose and freckles dusted on her cheeks, her red nose bright and unglossed. She smiles with her open mouth showing both buck teeth, chin turned toward the tall window beside her, the light full on the side of her face. Her long blonde hair falls straight down over one shoulder, one deer ear cocked, small antlers silhouetted against the glass, and her deer tail rests still against the chair back. She wears a crisp white collar at her throat, a red-and-green checkered vest over a black long-sleeved shirt with white cuffs, and a long black skirt falling to her hooves. Behind her the school classroom: rows of empty desks, a green chalkboard, a pinned paper notice, and the tall window showing backlit autumn trees outside, the leaves brighter than the dim interior. Warm pale daylight floods in from the window, catching the window-side plane of her face and the rim of her antlers, while the rest of the panel glows with soft warm grey-green interior shade. No lettering anywhere: no speech bubbles, no caption box, no sound effects, no signage text -- the awning and the pinned notice remain illegible marks. Palette of two worlds: left in bruised black, plum and cold light street tones, right in clean black and white with checkered red over green and warm window light. Bittersweet, quietly cheerful.
