character: pikachu, moltres, ash_ketchum, may_(pokemon), copyright: pokemon 4girls+1pokemon, laboratory interior, may hugging moltres, joyful expression, >ο<, closed eyes, wide open mouth, arms wrapped around moltres, cheek pressed to moltres' chest, ash and pikachu in background, staring at may, stunned expression, :o, open mouth, wide eyes, pikachu on ash's shoulder, from side, cowboy shot, foreshortening, indoors, lab equipment, fluorescent lighting, detail on hug contact, background simplified, warm foreground cool background The camera sits low and to the side in a three-quarter view of a bright laboratory interior, so May occupies the front third of the frame at full body scale while Ash and Pikachu read smaller in the midground behind her right shoulder. May — a girl with brown hair held by a red bandana tied over the crown, blue eyes now squeezed shut, wearing a red sleeveless shirt, dark bike shorts under loose shorts, and a yellow fanny pack at her waist — is caught mid-hug: she leans her whole weight forward onto the balls of her feet, both arms thrown wide around the huge fiery bird's chest, her fingers spread and digging into the hot plumage so the down dimples between each knuckle, her right cheek mashed flat against its breastbone, chin lifted, mouth stretched into a wide open joyful grin, eyebrows raised high. Moltres towers over her, wings half-spread and just beginning to lift, neck curved down toward the girl, one clawed foot planted beside her sneaker. The hug is the center of contact: May's arms compress the soft orange-red breast feathers into a shallow dent, and a faint warm glow spills up from that plumage onto the underside of her jaw, her collarbone and the inner edges of her forearms, leaving the outer side of her face and the back of her shoulders in cooler shadow. Behind them, Ash — black spiky hair under a red-and-white baseball cap, brown eyes, wearing a blue-and-white short-sleeved jacket left open and green fingerless gloves — has gone stiff mid-step, one foot still lifted, arms frozen at his sides, mouth dropped into a small round :o of disbelief, eyes wide and fixed straight on May; Pikachu perched on his shoulder mirrors the same stunned gape, ears bolt upright, tiny mouth a round o, black eyes locked on the hug. The lab surrounds them as a clean space: steel benches with glass beakers and racks of sample tubes lining the left wall, a large monitor and shelving of books and storage capsules along the back, ceiling panels casting flat cool white light down from above so the tubes throw thin bright glints and long soft reflections across the bench tops; the fiery bird's warmth is the only counter-light, making a faint convective shimmer rise from its wingtips. Palette holds cool steel-grey and white lab tones against the saturated red shirt, red bandana and orange-gold plumage, with Pikachu's yellow as a small warm spark in the midground. Whole frame is crisp cel-style color with hard shadow edges and clean highlights. Delighted chaos.
