The prince Arthas Menethil had taken the grave decision of culling the town, he prefers killing his subjects still humans, rather than letting them become undead. His lover Jaina proudmoore can't watch him doing such atrocities, devastated she leaves after Uther Lightbringer to appeal to king Terenas Menethil (Arthas father) before it is too late. This mission from warcraft III, marks the beginning of Arthas's descent into the damnation which will make him the well known lich king.

Derrière elle une rangée fantassins de lordaeron dont les casque cachent les visages, tiennent chacun une épée et un bouclier et attendent les ordres du prince. En bas de la colline sur la gauche, des tonneaux renversés de grain d'une couleur verte maladif émettant une fumée suspecte. Dans le lointain la ville médiévale de stratholme les maisons visibles derrière les remparts, sous lesquels coule une rivière, un pont vue de face enjambe la rivière pour mener aux portes de la cité. Des ombres très fortes, emotions intenses, atmosphère sombre. Sans le savoir en décidant de la purge de la ville, le prince Arthas s'est engagé sur le chemin de la damnation.
