But while his battles were won on the field, the corruption of bureaucracy at home bred unrest. Unbeknownst to him, that unrest festered to the point that a demon was drawn to the land. His family blamed him for the policies and he actually exalted during an ambush from his own people coming home. That made him fully aware of the gravity of the situation and a civil war broke out as he moved to take the throne for himself. In a haze of rage (Limit break) he executed most of his own family and their supporters publicly and gruesomely. The only living member of his immediate family he was aware of would his niece, Lysaveth, a demon-blooded conceived of Emerenzia, the Minister of the Ivory Tassel. He had spared her in the bout of madness but feared his own temperament after his limit break so sent her away. However, a Moonshadow named Four-Parts Treason managed to acquire her through unsavory means. Upon encountering the Abyssal, Four-Parts used her as a hostage for years before making a final offer after the Dawn had proven complicit in slowly increasingly heinous atrocities.
