A character is an entity that has already been spoken into existence. It is nothing other than a persona that was once named, given contours, and circulated somewhere within the narratives of the world. Exposed to countless gazes and interpretations, it sustains itself by absorbing them. Therefore, a character does not arise directly from someone’s inner self, but exists as a resonance drifting through the sea of collective imagination.

For this very reason, those who create “original” characters are inevitably confronted, often unconsciously, with a certain question: Was that character created to speak on behalf of your own human proclivities? Or was it through the character’s imitation of your identity that those proclivities themselves were formed?/キャラクターとは、すでに語られてきた存在である。 それはかつて名づけられ、輪郭を与えられ、世界の物語のどこかで流通してきたペルソナにほかならない。 無数の視線と解釈に晒され、それらを吸収することで、その存在は維持されていく。 ゆえにキャラクターは、誰かの内面から直接生まれるものではなく、 集合的想像力の海を漂う共鳴として存在している。

だからこそ、「オリジナル」のキャラクターを創造する者が無意識のうちに直面せざるを得ない問いがある。 そのキャラクターは、あなた自身の人間としての性癖を代弁するために作られたのだろうか。 それとも、キャラクターがあなたの同一性をなぞることで、性癖そのものが形成されたのだろうか。
