"Sohatsu" is a Japanese hairstyle where the front part of the head is not shaved, unlike the typical "chonmage" style.

In this style, the hair is pulled back and tied into a ponytail or a small bun at the back.

During Japan's Edo period (17th to 19th centuries),

・ntellectuals / Scholars

・Masterless Bushi(浪人 Ronin)→ For economic reasons

In the Edo period, it was considered proper grooming for a "Bushi" to have a neatly shaved head, so those called "Samurai=侍" who had a master generally did not wear this hairstyle.
