Shot from below at a slight dutch tilt, the girl fills the frame from mid-thigh to just above her head against a completely empty pale sky-blue field, no props and no set. She is caught mid-moment on one leg: her right foot is planted flat and carries her whole weight, her left leg is bent at the knee with the toe of her left shoe brushing the outside of her right calf, and her hips are skewed toward the left of frame with her torso tipped forward over them toward the lens, both hands clasped behind her back so her shoulders pull open and her elbows jut outward behind her silhouette. Her side ponytail is gathered high on the left side of her head, tied at the temple, and swings forward over her left shoulder from the lean, its ends curving out and away from her collarbone. Her hair falls in a heavy asymmetric sweep over the right side of her face, completely covering her right eye and its brow while the left eye stays open and bright sky-blue, aimed straight down the lens with a sly half-lowered lid and one eyebrow cocked; her lips are pulled into a lopsided open-mouthed grin with the corner of her mouth hitched higher on the covered side. Her chin is tilted up so her jaw reads long from this low angle and a faint blush sits high on the cheek that is visible. The light-blue blouse is gathered at the shoulders with the sleeves rolled to the elbow, tucked deep into high-waisted black shorts that end high on her thigh, and the black tights sheath both legs to the ankles in a flat matte finish that absorbs light rather than shining on it; a thin vertical highlight runs down the front of the planted right shin where the sun strikes it, while the underside of her chin and the inside of the raised knee fall into shadow. The only light source is the sun high behind and to the left of camera, so the shadow of her raised calf drops cleanly and separately onto the white ground, detached from the shadow of her planted leg, and her ponytail casts its own small shadow onto the collar of her blouse. The palette is held to three notes: the sky-blue of the blouse echoed in her left eye and the empty field, the unbroken black of shorts and tights, and the deep red of the hidden iris, which escapes as a single sliver of red through a gap in the strand over her right eye. Clean crisp cel shading, bold linework on the figure, weightless and teasing.
