While bearing the name and form of the legendary immortal spirit bird, Phenex is actually a fallen angel who was once of the Thrones (*Throni*) choir. Currently, he is a Great Earl of Hell commanding twenty legions, yet he harbors a desire to return to his original angelic state. Upon being summoned, he appears in the form of the phoenix implied by his name and is said to speak with a child's voice. When appearing before an exorcist, his voice sounds like a beautiful, melodic tone; however, when he takes on a human guise, the sound becomes so ferocious—threatening to shatter the listener's eardrums—that one must cover their ears. The illustration depicts him as an anthropomorphic phoenix, true to his name. The color scheme is based primarily on red and yellow. His attire features a flame-inspired design set against a red background. In the Demon World, he holds the position of Section Chief of the Health Insurance Division within the Insurance Bureau—an agency that publicly manages and guarantees health insurance, workers' compensation, and pensions for the populace. This setting draws inspiration from the fact that emblems featuring the phoenix—a symbol of "immortality" and "resurrection"—are frequently used by public institutions and private insurance companies in the human world.
