On a seemingly regular day in the Supernatural Protection Agency HQ, two individuals could be heard speaking in the halls... 超常保護機関（SPA）の本部。何気ない日常のなか、二人の人物の話し声が廊下に響いていた。 "...Hey, did you see that girl earlier?" 「……なぁ、さっきのあの子見たか？」 "Hm? Which one?" 「ん？ どの子だ？」 "The one with the weird hair." 「変わった髪をした子だよ」 "Ah... Her." 「あぁ……彼女か」 "Her?" 「彼女？」 "The Ash-Walker." 「『アッシュ・ウォーカー（灰の歩行者）』だ」 "The... what?" 「……何だって？」 "Haha, yeah, I guess you wouldn't know. She's known as 'The Ash-Walker' because the only thing to remain after any of her missions so far has been piles of ash." 「はは、まあお前は知らないよな。彼女の任務の後に残るのは、いつも灰の山だけ。だからそう呼ばれてるんだ」 "Wow... That's..." 「うわぁ……それは……」 "Yeah, hardcore, isn't it?" 「なぁ？ かなりハードコアだろ？」 Yeah... that's pretty fucking cool, honestly." 「あぁ……正直マジでクソ格好いいな」 "Right??" 「だろ！？」 ...The girl in question, known mainly as simply Ash, would one day come to be known as one of the top five figures of the Supernatural Protection Agency—though that day is far from the time of this conversation. ……件の少女、通称『アッシュ』。彼女がいずれ超常保護機関のトップ５に数えられる存在になるのだが、それはまだ、ずっと先の話である。
