A slight low-angle medium shot captures a young woman seated upon the crags of a jagged rocky outcrop. Her right knee is drawn up toward her chest with her boot planted on the dark stone, while her right forearm rests loosely across the raised knee, fingers hanging relaxed in mid-air. Her left hand grips the shaft of an ornate wooden staff whose base is planted firmly into a cleft in the stone beside her hip. Her head is tilted downward, her half-lidded crimson eyes cast aloofly toward the ground below with a calm, composed, quietly confident expression, her mouth closed in an unsmiling, level line. Her long scarlet hair, parted with sidelocks and locks falling between her eyes, stirs and separates in the evening draft. She wears an open, loose mantle over bare shoulders, a dark bandeau across her chest, matching dark arm warmers, and a short dark skirt, her form predominantly cast in deep shadow. Behind her, the dusk sky transitions from a fiery ember-orange glow along the sunken horizon through wisps of thin clouds catching crimson twilight into dark indigo and pitch-black at the upper crest. A crisp, warm amber rim light traces her silhouette, catching the edges of her windblown hair, the curve of her shoulders, and the contour of the staff. Tiny orange fire sparks and glowing embers drift lazily upward from near the staff head, trailing the same breeze that lifts her tresses. Melancholic, quietly commanding.
