They form into something similar to the Claimed, but it’s more the technology itself that grows to accommodate the ephemeral entity, rather than a possession and appropriation of the mortal’s mind and body — at least at first. The origins of these mutated larval horrors are unclear, but their numbers are slowly growing, implying some ability to propagate themselves, and they blend in well with their surroundings in a world where technology is so commonplace. Begotten speculate heavily on where they come from. Some stories speak of an Inguma Destroyer who worked with the Awakened to integrate a small swarm of minor goetia into what were originally fairly low-tech prosthetics, and upon Incarnating years later the plastic transformed into an oddly high-tech device that more perfectly integrated those components. Others tell of an Unfettered known for its Legend as a technological gremlin who learned to consume spirits within the Shadow and take on their ability to Claim the devices it held Influence over more directly — yet it always left a piece of itself behind. Still more talk of it as a modern evolution of the Dreamborn themselves, those straddling the Horizons between the Bright and Primordial Dreams, taking on aspects of Horrors due to the increasing number of technological "horror stories" bridging the gap between the Temenos and its dark cousin. Rather than devouring the souls of mortals, they steal the ephemeral reflection of technology, but never do fully lose their influence over mortal minds. The ephemeral component itself is a larval entity, something akin to the Horrors of the primordial depths, altered by the Essence of the implant and merged into something closer to a Magath that’s as much goetic as spiritual. Once they’ve fully awakened, the horror understands First Tongue but speaks it in a strange dialect, one foreign to any spirits of the Hisil. The appearance of a Cyberhorror can easily spark beast broods into conflict with those who don’t approve of the meshing of ephemera and flesh, like werewolves and certain Awakened. The Begotten generally consider the goetic cyborgs as one of the Dark Mother’s children and some of their youngest kin, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
