Below and behind her the dark castle towers rise in silhouette on crags, its windows pricked with faint warm light, and a field of many pumpkins crowds the ground, their carved faces glowing; small bat-shaped lights and ghost-shaped lights drift in the warm orange air around her, and the huge moon hangs low and enormous, its disc carved like an abstract jack-o'-lantern with a jagged grin and triangular eyes, its edge flattened by haze. The warm orange glow from below is the key light on her face, palms and knees, while a cooler silver rim from the pumpkin moon outlines her cape and the broom; the far side of her face keeps a soft edge of shadow. Wind pulls her hair and clothing toward the tail of the broom, and the light from the pumpkins warms the underside of the lingering dust she kicks up. Playful, dizzy night-flight.
