Story Chapter 26: A Place Among the Crowd

The nightclub welcomed Red Mirage with a dazzling display of coloured lights, elegant chandeliers, and the lively murmur of evening guests. Music pulsed through the spacious interior while groups of people chatted, laughed, and moved across the polished dance floor. She stepped inside with a composed smile, briefly taking in her surroundings. The atmosphere was exactly what she needed: crowded enough to remain unnoticed, yet relaxed enough to make approaching someone feel perfectly natural. She made her way toward the bar, her heels clicking softly against the floor. Taking a seat, she placed her red handbag beside her and glanced around at the other patrons. The bartender approached with a welcoming smile. “Good evening. What can I get you?” “Something refreshing, please. Surprise me,” she replied pleasantly. As the bartender prepared her drink, Mirage casually surveyed the room, looking for the familiar face from the photograph she had studied earlier. She didn't want to appear as though she was searching for anyone in particular. Instead, she intended to settle in, enjoy her drink, and let the evening unfold naturally. “No need to rush things,” she thought, resting one gloved hand against the counter. “I'll wait until my little guest of honour makes an appearance.” A subtle, mischievous smile crossed her lips as the bartender placed her drink before her. She lifted the glass and took a leisurely sip, allowing herself to blend into the nightclub's lively atmosphere. For now, she would simply enjoy the evening while keeping an attentive eye on the crowd.
